Music by a Brazilian composer is part of a Hollywood comedy soundtrack.
When São Paulo native Pamella Paiva embarked for San Francisco (California) in 2004, her ambitions were not modest. "I was 19 years old, didn't know anyone, nor did I speak English very well," she recalls. "I composed in English and the market in Brazil is very difficult. But I wanted to make my music happen abroad."
Her insistence began to pay dividends the day she was spotted at a show by music producer Joe Bretz. Sponsored by his manager, she saw her luck change. Also a Hollywood producer, Bretz recommended one of Pamella's compositions for the soundtrack of The Chosen One, starring comedian Rob Schneider. The track "Miracle" was eventually selected for the film, due out in the first quarter of 2009. "Rob heard my song and made sure it was in the movie," she says.
