Daly City, CA (April 1, 2002) – Digidesign® and Avid Technologies provided The California Music Awards with next-generation Pro Tools HD and AVID Symphony systems to record, edit, mix and broadcast the entire event digitally for the first time in the show's 25 year run. "In the past, we'd record in Pro Tools, but deliver the final mix to our broadcast partners as analog tapes," states Joseph Q. Bretz, Executive Producer/Director of World Talent Media, the company responsible for all video production aspects of the event. "Now, with Pro ToolslHD and integration with AVID Technologies, we can use the high-definition system to keep the workflow entirely in the digital realm and at higher sample rates than ever before."
Digidesign and Avid products enabled World Talent Media to use Pro ToolslHD for hard disk recording at 96kHz and exporting OMF files for transfer to AVID Symphony (Version 4.0) system for video and audio integration. They were then able to digitally deliver the material to a syndicated broadcast throughout six major California markets. Because the material is all-digital at 96K, they can use it for future projects like a California Music Awards DVD.
The audio and video production also made full use of both A VI D fiber storage and Glyph FireWire storage solutions. "Glyph's Firewire storage systems have proven to be stable enough for a live show,” says Joel Jaffe, President of Studio D Recording. "Now, I can say the same about Digidesign's amazing sounding Pro ToolslHD system."
