SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Q Black Media, a San Francisco based independent film production and entertainment company, announced today the selection of Placemaking Group, a PR and marketing services firm, as its agency of record. Placemaking Group will handle branding, publicity, and marketing for Q Black's projects.
"As Q Black creates change in how movies, music, content, event space, production, and live performance are utilized, produced, and formatted, Placemaking Group will partner with us to communicate to consumers our vision and accomplishments," said Joe Q. Bretz, CEO of Q Black Media.
Q Black Media, headed up by Bretz and David "Blackie" Blackford, is headquartered in the SOMA District of San Francisco. The company's projects include a multi-picture deal featuring Rob Schneider, with the first film, The Chosen One, already finished and scheduled to be in theaters nationwide in November 2008.
"We are excited about the many projects we have ready to go in our pipeline including a nightclub, more movies, and more music," says Bretz.
Q Black also includes a music management company, Soundbyte, which represents Bay Area rock outfit, Mouth to Mouth, and Brazilian-born singer/songwriter Pamela Carter. The company is focused on representing Bay Area bands and performers, and will feature the music from the signed artists in the movies Q Black produces.
Bretz got his start in the entertainment industry at an early age as a model and actor, and later as the producer of the California Music Awards 25th Anniversary Show, which was executive produced by Dennis Erokan, the former CEO of BAM Magazine and now president of Placemaking Group. Bretz and Erokan worked together to syndicate the 2002 California Music Awards, which was the first live show to be recorded direct to hard disk. Bretz has also produced in-concert video specials for Smashmouth, Alanis Morissette, Macy Gray, Melissa Etheridge, Shelby Lynn, and for HBO's "Reverb Series."
"I look forward to working with Joe Bretz again and to communicating his creativity and his ability to find opportunities by looking at things from a unique perspective," said Placemaking Group's Erokan.
